The climate varies according to altitude, being very hot in the lowlands, and much colder in the mountainous regions. The rainy season runs from May to December.

Simón Bolívar International Airport is located 26km (16 miles) from Caracas. There are taxis and coaches shuttling passengers to Parque Central in the city centre Caracas.
