Bulgaria is a European charming small nation with over 13 centuries in Europe, connecting East and West. Bulgaria remembers antique civilisations and great people that wrote its unstable history. Located in South-eastern Europe, Bulgaria occupies the north-eastern side of the Balkan Peninsula.
Bulgaria is surrounded by Romania, Serbia, Republic of Macedonia, Greece, and Turkey to the southeast. The country has varied and beautiful landscapes, well-conserved historical and cultural heritage, serene rural and mountain areas and modern resorts in the Black Sea.
The hilly southwest of the country has two alpine ranges Rila and Pirin. On the Rila range is the highest peak of the Balkan Peninsula, Musala, at 2.925 metres (9,596 ft).
This mountainous country and plains lays to the north along the Danube and along the Black Sea coast to the southeast.
The climate in this country is moderate continental. The winters are cold and humid, snowing in the high lands. Summers are usually hot and dry.
